Below are some fun boomerang games that will improve your boomerang throwing, boomerang catching, and boomerang accuracy.
Accuracy:
In this game you'll need your favorite boomerang, a flag/wind tracker, paper and a pencil/pen. Place the flag/wind tracker in the ground as a marker. Each player will take 5 consecutive throws standing next to the flag/wind tracker. When your boomerang returns don't catch it or touch it. Let it land where it lands. Now count off the paces from your boomerang to the flag/wind tracker and mark that number down. Take the rest of your throws marking down each of your scores. The next player does the same thing. Add up each of your scores and the player with the lowest score wins.
Aussie Round
In this game you'll need your favorite boomerang, a flag/wind tracker, paper and a pencil/pen. Place the flag/wind tracker in the ground as a marker. Each player will take 5 consecutive throws standing next to the flag/wind tracker. In this game when the boomerang returns you want to try and catch it. Similar to the rules of Accuracy you want to count off the paces from where your boomerang landed or you caught it to the flag/wind tracker. Mark that number down. For each boomerang that you catch subtract 4 points. Remember the lowest score wins.
BOOM
In this game you'll only need your favorite boomerang and some good trick catches. Letters from the word BOOM are given when the opponent doesn't successfully complete the trick catch that the first player performed. This game works the same way as the basketball game "HORSE". Player one thinks of a trick catch, announces it (eg. left hand catch) and performs it. If the player does not successfully complete the catch no letter is awarded however the next player becomes the player to set the trick catch. Letters of the word BOOM are given when the player that sets the trick catch, successfully performs the trick catch, and the other player does not. If you spell the word BOOM your out. The last player in wins.
Fast Catch
In this game you'll need a fast catch boomerang or if you don't have that use your favorite boomerang but make sure your opponent uses the same boomerang as you to make it fair. You'll also need a flag/wind tracker, paper, pencil/pen, and a stop watch. Place the flag/wind tracker in the ground as a marker. Each player will take 5 consecutive throws from the flag/wind tracker. Remember with each throw you need to get back to the flag/wind tracker before you make your next throw. Time begins at the first throw and is stopped when the thrower catches or retrieves their 5th boomerang and gets back to the flag/wind tracker. 5 seconds are awarded for each boomerang caught. The total amount of seconds earned are subtracted from your total time it took you to throw and catch your 5 boomerangs. Example; 5 boomerangs caught= 25 seconds. Total amount of time to make your 5 throws 75 seconds. 75-25= 50. The player with the lowest time (after catch deduction) wins.
Juggling
In this game you need two boomerangs, paper, and a pencil/pen. The object of this game is to always have at least one boomerang in the air. 5 points are awarded for each catch and the player continues to throw until a boomerang is dropped or the thrower doesn't have at least one boomerang in the air. Add up each players total points and the player with the highest points wins.
Maximum Time Aloft (MTA)
In this game you'll need your favorite boomerang, paper, pencil/pen and a stop watch. If you know how to tune your boomerang to give you maximum hover go ahead and do so. Be careful when tuning your boomerang. The bending and twisting of the wings can break your boomerang. Each player will make 5 consecutive throws. Time will start at each throw and will be stopped at the end (catch or lands on the ground) of each throw. Write down the time of each throw. 5 seconds are awarded for each boomerang caught. The total amount of seconds (for boomerangs caught) are added to your total MTA. Example; 5 boomerangs caught= 25 seconds. Total MTA to make 5 throws 75 seconds. 25+75= 100. The player with the highest time (after catch addition) wins.
Skill Catch
In this game you'll need your favorite boomerang, paper, and a pencil/pen. Each player will need to catch as follows...
Depending on your skill level you can add or take away catches. 5 points are awarded for each successful catch and the player with the highest points wins.
Please note that the above games are a variation of the official games. The player that goes first is decided by age. Youngest First.
